Andaman and Nicobar Zone

About the Andaman and Nicobar Zone

Geographically isolated and linguistically unique, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands harbor several of India's most highly endangered languages.

Within this territory, research and safeguarding efforts focus on the vulnerable linguistic systems of indigenous populations, namely the Lamongse, Luro, Muot (Nancowry), Onge, Pu (Car Nicobar), Sanenyo, Sentinelese, Shompen, and Takahanyilang.
