Bio Note

Thokchom Sandeepkumar Singh is a Junior Resource Person at the Scheme for Protection and Preservation of Endangered Languages (SPPEL), Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru. He holds an M.A. and an M.Phil. in Linguistics from the University of Hyderabad, where he specialized in language documentation and descriptive linguistics. His work is dedicated to the documentation, preservation, and revitalization of underrepresented and lesser-known Indian languages, with a particular emphasis on endangered speech communities. Through extensive fieldwork, he collaborates closely with native speakers to record linguistic data, document oral traditions, and develop resources that support language maintenance and revitalization. His research primarily focuses on the Tibeto-Burman and Austro-Asiatic language families, contributing to the broader understanding and preservation of India's rich linguistic diversity. He is particularly interested in integrating field-based linguistic research with community-centered approaches to promote sustainable language preservation efforts.
